With roots extending nearly a century, the network’s community of care is comprised of five acute care hospitals with more than 1,700 licensed beds: Brookwood Baptist Medical Center, Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Walker Baptist Medical Center and Citizens Baptist Medical Center.

Frank Thomas Named CEO of Citizens Baptist Medical Center

frank-thomas-compressorBrookwood Baptist Health today announced Frank Thomas has been named chief executive officer of Citizens Baptist Medical Center. Having most recently served as Interim CEO and Chief Operating Officer at Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Frank brings a wealth of multi-faceted healthcare and project management experience to this role.

Frank began his career with the Baptist Health System in 1990 and later joined Siemens in Birmingham, Ala., as a Senior Project Manager where he was responsible for the direct management of multiple information technology groups in a large healthcare environment before being promoted to Site Executive.

In 2005, Frank rejoined the Baptist Health System as Clinical Director of IT before joining Citizens Baptist Medical Center several years later as Director of Operations/IT and subsequently Executive Director of Support Services. In 2013, Frank was named Associate Administrator of Shelby Baptist Medical Center before assuming his most recent role.

Frank holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Laboratory Technology from Auburn University and a Masters of Business Administration from the University of Alabama. He is a graduate of Baptist Health System (Birmingham) School of Medical Technology. Additionally, Frank holds multiple professional certifications, including Certified Project Management Professional (PMP), Project Management Institute; Certified Manager, Institute of Certified Professional Managers; and Certified Medical Technologist, ASCP.

According to Keith Parrott, chief executive officer, Brookwood Baptist Health, “Frank’s project management experience and seasoned tenure in the healthcare industry meld to provide tremendous insight in the role of CEO. Frank is revered among his peers, and having previously been a part of the Citizens Baptist family for a number of years, Frank is being welcomed with open arms. I know he will lead by example and help drive forward the quality of care our Talladega community has come to know and expect from Brookwood Baptist Health.”
