BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – October 31, 2016 – Citizens Baptist Medical Center is pleased to announce that Doug Brewer will be joining the administrative team as the new chief executive officer (CEO). In this position, Brewer is responsible for overseeing all areas of operations at Citizens Baptist Medical Center. He will begin his role at Citizens as of Monday, October 31st.

“Doug will be a great addition to the leadership team at Citizens Baptist Medical Center,” says Keith Parrott, President of Brookwood Baptist Health. “I am confident that he will continue the hospital’s reputation as a leading provider of trusted, high-quality care.”

He has more than 10 years of healthcare executive leadership experience. Brewer joined Brookwood Medical Center in September 2015, and has provided tremendous leadership to the cardiovascular service line as well as other key departments at the hospital. He joined the Brookwood Baptist Health system from his role as Chief Operating Officer of Atlanta Medical Center in Atlanta, Ga. Prior to that, he held executive leadership positions for Select Medical Corporation and at Tenet Healthcare’s Sierra Providence Health Network in El Paso, a multi-hospital system similar to Brookwood Baptist Health.

Brewer earned a bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Ok., and a master’s degree in business administration from Kutztown University in Kutztown, Pa. He is vice chair and an executive board member of the Brain Injury Association of America National Board of Directors and a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
