Formerly Brookwood Medical Center and Baptist Health System, Brookwood Baptist Health unifies two of the largest resources for high-quality, affordable healthcare for the citizens of Central Alabama. With roots extending nearly a century, the network’s community of care is comprised of five acute care hospitals with more than 1,700 licensed beds: Brookwood Baptist Medical Center, Princeton Baptist Medical Center, Shelby Baptist Medical Center, Walker Baptist Medical Center and Citizens Baptist Medical Center.

Brookwood Baptist Health also provides patients with the largest primary care network in the state, which includes approximately 60 primary and specialty care clinics; approximately 1,500 affiliated physicians; and nearly 7,300 employees. Brookwood Baptist Health Chaplaincy Program Leader, Dr. Cecelia A. Walker, Named to Samford University Board of Trustees

BIRMINGHAM, ALA. – Dr. Cecelia A. Walker, executive director of chaplaincy and clinical pastoral education for Brookwood Baptist Health, has been elected to the Samford University board of trustees. A four-year appointment, Samford’s 40-member board serves as the governing body for the university.

dr-cecelia-walker-director-of-chaplaincy“As a graduate of Samford’s Beeson Divinity School, I am incredibly honored to be able to serve in this capacity and give back to a university that has opened countless doors for me,” stated Walker. “Through this opportunity, I look forward to being a part of helping to further the university’s mission to nurture persons in their development, intellect, creativity, faith and personhood.”

Walker also serves as an Association for Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) certified educator for a parish-based CPE program at the Morning Pilgrim Baptist Church in Montgomery and as an associate minister at Birmingham’s Greater Shiloh Baptist Church.

Walker previously served as a member of Samford’s Board of Overseers. She is also the national certification chair for the Association for Clinical Pastoral Educators.
