SBMC Celebrates National Hospital Week and National Nurses Week

Nurses, physicians and staff at Shelby County Medical Center participate in the Blessing of the Hands ceremony as National Hospital Week and National Nurses Week commences.

ALABASTER, Ala. (May 10, 2018) – Shelby Baptist Medical Center is hosting a variety of events to say thank you to all of the hospital’s employees during the 2018 National Hospital Week and Nurses Week.

May 6-12 is National Hospital Week, the nation’s largest healthcare event. This week is the celebration of the history, technology, innovation and dedicated individuals in the healthcare industry. This week also marks National Nurses Week, which aims to raise awareness of the important role nurses play in society.

Shelby Baptist Medical Center is celebrating in its own way by hosting events and providing throughout the week, including:

  • Blessing of the Hands
  • Memos of Thanks
  • Country Dessert Contest
  • Picnic on the Patio
  • Silly Sock Day
  • Department Photo Contest
  • Ice Cream Social

Shelby Baptist Medical Center Chief Executive Officer, Mike Rickman, praised the nurses, physicians and staff for their unwavering commitment to provide the highest level of quality care to those in need. Rickman recognized the importance of this week as an opportunity to recognize and thank not only these individuals, but also express appreciation to the Shelby County community for the support shown to the hospital.
