A New Day in Healthcare in Central Alabama

Brookwood Baptist Health is a private, not-for-profit, faith-based healthcare system dedicated to providing high-quality, accessible care for the communities of Central Alabama. As it has been for more than a century, Brookwood Baptist Health is an integral part of the healthcare landscape in Central Alabama. And now, it also is an integral part of Orlando Health, a private, not-for-profit integrated academic healthcare organization with corporate offices in Orlando, Florida. Like Brookwood Baptist Health, Orlando Health has a longstanding commitment to its local communities and making sure neighbors, friends and family receive the best care possible. As part of Orlando Health, Brookwood Baptist Health will advance in providing innovative and compassionate patient care, strengthening the organization’s mission to improve the health and quality of life of the individuals and communities we serve.

Brookwood Baptist Health’s system of care includes five acute care hospitals and more than 1,700 licensed beds; a free-standing emergency room, one of the first of its kind in Alabama; Alabama’s largest primary care network with 70 primary care clinics along as well as specialty care; approximately 2,600 employed and affiliated physicians; and more than 7,000 team members. Brookwood Baptist Health is actively involved in community outreach and education, providing health screenings, wellness programs, and support groups to advance wellness for the entire region.

Brookwood Baptist Health joins the Orlando Health connected network of care that spans from Florida’s Atlantic to Gulf coasts, to Puerto Rico, and now to Central Alabama. Nationally recognized for its high-performing community and specialty hospitals, the now 5,150 plus-bed healthcare system includes 42 hospitals and emergency departments with 10 more in development, dedicated specialty institutes, behavioral health and skilled nursing facilities, urgent care locations, multiple physician groups and numerous outpatient centers. More than 5,125 physicians in over 105 specialties have privileges across the system, with 35,000+ team members. In fiscal year 2023, the healthcare system provided more than $1.7 billion in total community impact in the form of charity care, community benefit programs and services, and community building activities.
